YOUR Hormones aren't broken.
They're just out of sync.
Physician-led hormone optimization for men and women in Wilmette and across the North Shore. Built around how you feel, not just where a number falls on a chart.
THIS IS WHAT IT FEELS LIKE
Low energy
Days that used to feel manageable now require effort to get through. The output is there; the ease isn't.
Poor sleep
You're getting the hours. You're not getting the rest. There's a difference, and you feel it every morning.
Brain fog
Sometimes your thinking is crisp. Other times it's unreliable in ways you can't predict or control.
Weight resistance
The routine hasn't changed. The results have. Something in the equation shifted.
Slower recovery
What used to bounce back overnight now takes three days. The training isn't the problem.
Mood changes
Shorter fuse. Lower baseline. You recognize the shift; you just can't explain what caused it.
Loss of drive
The goals are still there. The consistent pull toward them isn't showing up the way it used to.
Inconsistent performance
Your best days still happen. They're just not the default anymore.
the same shift.
TWO DiFFERENT EXPERIENCES.
For Men
Energy fades first. Then strength stalls, and recovery starts taking longer than it should.
You’re training the same, eating the same, and the results have quietly stopped matching the effort.
For most men, the cause traces back to testosterone, cortisol, or how your metabolism is functioning — shifts small enough to slide past a standard panel, but large enough to notice every single day.
We find the cause. We treat it.
FOR Women
Your body stops following its own rules.
Sleep gets lighter. Weight holds on despite no real change in habits. Mood and energy swing in ways that feel random, not seasonal.
For a lot of women, this starts in perimenopause — often years before a missed period gives it away — and standard labs drawn on an ordinary day can miss it completely.
If you’ve been told this is just aging, that’s not where we’re stopping.
“Normal” isn’t the same as optimal
One number rarely tells the whole story.
Hormones interact constantly — raising testosterone while a thyroid issue goes unaddressed, or treating estrogen without ever checking cortisol, is exactly why so many patients only feel partially better elsewhere.
Our physicians look at the entire hormonal and metabolic system together, because that’s the only version of this that actually works.
- For Men: Testosterone (total and free), thyroid (TSH, Free T3, Free T4), estradiol, cortisol, DHEA, and metabolic markers.
- For Women: Estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, thyroid, cortisol, DHEA, and adrenal function — across all stages from perimenopause through post-menopause.
What physician-led actually means.
Plenty of hormone programs call themselves “physician-supervised” when what actually happens is a doctor approving a protocol someone else built.
At Lake Avenue Wellness, your physician is the one building it. Board-certified, internal medicine trained, and not running a questionnaire-to-prescription pipeline. They read your full labs, weigh them against your symptoms and history, and design your protocol from there — then keep adjusting it as your results and your response change.
Nothing gets set once and left alone.

Our Process
Consultation
Before anything gets ordered, a physician sits down with you. What's been happening, what you've tried, what you're actually trying to accomplish. Not a rush.
Comprehensive Labs
A full hormone and metabolic workup designed around your symptoms, not the standard annual panel. We order what actually tells us something.
Personalized Plan
Your results get read in context — against your symptoms and your goals, not just against a reference range. Your protocol is built from that.
Ongoing Refinement
Your biology changes. Your protocol follows it. We monitor your labs throughout and adjust as your picture evolves.
If something feels off and hasn’t been clearly explained, this is where we start.
Your first conversation is on us.
Your first visit starts with what you’ve actually been feeling, not a form. We’ll talk through your symptoms, look at what labs you’ve already had, and tell you plainly whether a full hormone workup makes sense for you.
If it does, we’ll outline what that looks like and what it costs. If it doesn’t, you’ll leave knowing that too — no pressure, no guesswork.
Most people are told to live with it.
You don’t have to.
Frequently Asked Questions
My doctor already checked my hormones and said everything looks fine. Why would I come to you?
Standard hormone panels are designed to catch deficiency or disease — not to identify where your levels need to be for you to actually feel like yourself. ‘Within range’ covers a wide span, and where you fall inside that range matters enormously.
At Lake Avenue Wellness, we evaluate your labs in the context of how you feel, what you’ve noticed changing, and where your numbers should be for your age and your goals — not just whether you’ve cleared a minimum threshold. Many of our patients have been told everything looks normal. That’s usually where we start.
Do you take insurance for hormone therapy?
Hormone optimization care at Lake Avenue Wellness is provided outside of insurance — you’re billed directly, without copays, prior authorizations, or surprise bills. Some patients use HSA or FSA funds.
We can provide documentation for reimbursement if your plan covers out-of-network care, but we don’t bill insurance directly.
How soon do patients typically notice a difference?
That depends on what’s being addressed and how far off your baseline is.
Most patients start noticing meaningful changes in energy, sleep, and mood within four to eight weeks of starting a well-matched protocol. Body composition and recovery typically take longer — three to six months is a more realistic window for those changes.
We track your labs and your response throughout, so we know when something isn’t moving as expected and can adjust.
Can I start hormone therapy without becoming a member?
Yes.
Hormone optimization is available without a DPC membership. Membership adds ongoing primary care, same-day access, and lab oversight integrated across all your programs — but it’s not required to start.
Many patients begin with a specific hormone program and add membership later when they want that level of continuity.
What does the first visit actually look like?
Your first visit is a conversation with one of our physicians — not a form you fill out in a waiting room.
We go through what you’ve been experiencing, your history, what you’ve already tried, and what you’re actually trying to accomplish. From there we’ll tell you honestly whether a full hormone workup makes sense, what it involves, and what it costs.
No commitment required. Most patients know within the first conversation whether this is the right fit.
